Default Anyone Replaced ATI Rubber Hoses with Aluminum?

There was an old thread about ATI aluminum piping for the twin intercoolers as a replacement for the standard shitty rubber hosing. I kinda want to expand on this though a little bit. I was working on my car today and started thinking how much boost this rubber hosing is costing me. I am thinking that it must take awhile for the rubber to fully expand under pressure. Has anyone just replaced the rubber hosing up top with some aluminum mandrel bends? There might be some fitment issues with the hood but a little bending could take care of that. Looking at my stock tubing, there are like 4 or 5 90 degree rubber bends that can be replaced, three of which are up top that are visible. Then the old rubber pieces can be cut up to use as couplers to join the metal pieces. I don't think it will be too hard. It will just take some fitting and cutting. I was also thinking of making one solid piece that goes from the y-bend to the intercoolers, this will get rid of the six 90 degree rubber bends under there. Then again use rubber couplers to join the solid y-piece to the intercoolers.

Has anyone done this, or thought about it? Am I going overboard? I found some aluminum bend peices for pretty cheap. I could get all the pieces I need for less than $75.

It can be done. Takes a bit of work, and time. I re-worked my set up. To use all steel tubing and high quality couplings. Bought pre bent 90,s 45,s and U bends to cut and weld up as needed. Even able to keep the use of my stock air filter & location.

I have been thingking about doing this too. It just seems like the right thing to do. And with my car lowered, I am worried about the bottom tubes so I was thinking about using ovals....
