Default Should I reset the PCM after a cam install?

I just installed an F11 cam and an LS6 intake. I'll be starting the car tomorrow. Should I reset my PCM? I don't plan to get a tune for a couple of months.

Thanks,

Jim

Didn't you disconnect the battery before installing the cam? If not I'd go for the idle relearn too as Mike said.

Also do the PCM relearn procedure:

1) Turn key to on for 30 seconds
2) Turn key to off for 11 seconds
3) Turn key to on for 30 seconds
4) Turn key to off for 11 seconds
5) Turn key to on for 30 seconds
6) Turn key to off for 11 seconds
7) Turn key to on for 30 seconds
8) Turn key to off for 11 seconds
9) Turn key to on for 30 seconds

Eh, real simple way to reset is to disconnect the battery for 15-20 minutes. The pcm shouldn't retain a damn thing after that, and have to relearn everything. Hence why since most people disconnect the battery for a cam install, they don't have to worry about it

That is not entirely true. The PCM does retain some info in flash memory that will not be affected by power loss. Doing the PCM relearn procedure will clear that info.

Ive never heard of PCM relearn. I plan on going bigger with my cam before the summers end and will the PCM relearn erase my tune becasue I wont be able to get a new one right away.

Good luck with that without a tune. You didn't mention if it was on a 112 or 114,my assumption is a 112 and if thats the case dont plan on running the AC much this summer cause the stock tune is going to have the IAC count all over the place.

Question: Does doing the PCM relearn procedure clear out everything including a Tune? So if the O2"s/EGR was cleared during a Tune--would this bring back the codes?

I went from a 220/224 114 cam to a 236/236/112. I have the Crane tuner for now until I can get a dyno tune. Should my programmer take care of all this or should I put it back to stock tune, then do the reset procedure, then retune with the programmer? I didn't disconnect the battery before the install. My transmission gave out 10 miles after the install so I havn't driven it for a week to say much abut the cam. It will sit in my garage till I can tear my tranny out. Opinions on tune?

Tell me about it! Every time I try to use the a/c, my car dies on me at low idle. And sometimes w/o the a/c. Have a new tune ready, but haven't had a chance to have it done yet. Hopefully this week. I also have this wierd noise (which probably has nothing to do w/the cam), but thought I'd ask -- please don't get mad -- don't mean to take over the thread by any means!

While driving the car, I can hear a sound that resembles that of a drill. It lasts anywhere from approximatley 3 - 5 seconds. It's not a loud noise -- can't hear it if the radio is on and can hear it better from the driver's side. Any suggestions?
