Cooling system pressurising

Cooling system pressurising This is for a buddy's 427 rat 65 Vette.
He is experiencing presurisation of cooling system when warming up. Anyone has ideas on what it could be?
Or anyone has had that experience?

No idea whats causing it, but i can tell you how to solve it. Remove the thermostat and drill 2 small holes 180 degrees accross from each other about 1/8th inch away from the outer rim. Put it back in and youre good to go.

depends on what your calling presurisation of cooling system.
If your running the motor with the cap off it is normal for the coolant to bubble over as it warms up till the t-stat opens. if your talking bout it building to much pressure with the cap on then it could be a head gasket

I would change out the thermostat and drill a hole or holes as mentioned in the new one. If that didnt help they have a tool you put over the opening in the radiator that detects exhaust gasses exiting the radiator.

Just for added info.
427 iron block, iron heads. sat around for awhile without starting.
Heads have been off, cleaned, magnafluxed and put back on with new gaskets.
Cooling system chemical testing shows gases in coolant.
No oil in coolant or vice versa, no smoke out of pipes.
I remember seing this thermostat drilling mod on some setups.
We will try that and see.
