M-6 Trouble........3rd Gear Gone Bad? well I made it up to GLD last night..only took 3 hours in rush hour traffic too!
On my second pass I developed a problem shifting into third gear. First to second was a STRONG shift and then I took it up to about 5500-5600 and threw it up to third, but when I went into third the car bogged down hard and it almost felt like I had just downshifted. On my next pass I shifted at around 5000-5100 into third and it chirpped them hard and had no problems at all. On my last run of the night I had the same problem going into third shifting at the higher RPM (5600 again) and this time it bogged down and got really slow like it was doing before but with a nice loud thumping noise. Sometimes the shifter would get stuck in third and when I got to the end of the track the clutch pedal would feel a little dead, but no smell of burnt clutch anywhere. Does anyone have any idea why I can shift it hard at a lower RPM, but when I get higher it just doesn't do anything? I know I have a lot more power to be had, but I'm just not being able to get it. Anyone know what the cause of this may be?

Re: M-6 Trouble........3rd Gear Gone Bad? hmm now that's interesting......that could possibly be, but if I did hit 5th somehow would I still be able to pull off a 13.8xxx? I think it's time for a pro 5.0!

Re: M-6 Trouble........3rd Gear Gone Bad? You hit 5th. If the engine were to bog then you would be in too tall a gear for the rpm's you were turning. A downshifting feeling is when the engine over-revs because of being forced into too small a gear for the rpm's being turned. This can also result in bent pushrods. Better too tall a gear than too small a gear. And yes, get a 5.0
Re: M-6 Trouble........3rd Gear Gone Bad? I used to put this car in 5th all the time with the stock hurst, I could always tell because it would crunch when it would go into 5th at 6400rpm. B&M ripper solved that for good, any aftermarket shifter is better then stock..
