Default Torquer 2 and AFR milled .20/ flycut?

Would I have to flycut my pistons if I changed cams.

Im running the stock GM gaskets and AFR heads milled .20 off.

If I pulled my 228R out and put in the Torquer 2?

would I see much gain, and would I still be in a safety zone for error?

Ive been slacking off lately and forgot everything... are the valves hung higher than stock on the AFRs? TSP said they ran stock heads milled .015 with the Torquer 2 cam and were cutting it too close for comfort.

According to what I learned recently (something new everyday ) a AFR 205 milled .030 with .040 Cometic has .020>.025 more valve drop room than a stock head.
As per Louis at LGM a 234/242 114 fits on that combo with no issues (well slightly below the rule of thumb safety margins) but fits. (.070/.100-.110).
So 232/234 should have lots of room on a .020 mill and stock gaskets.

This was my shocker for the day

Did he measure the valve drop on a flat bench? Or did he cut .080 and then measure into the pocket? If its the latter, I dont think id trust my engine to one claim. Too much room for error, even though it would seem logical that the error would be on the thin side, not the wide side.

Phil, are you sure the T2 is the right cam for you? Is it really that much different than the 228R? My understanding is that the T2 is not a great low RPM performer, as the name might suggest.

I saw one for a good sale price and was just thinking about it. I drove my car today, and with the 228R, AFR heads and 3:90 gears, I dont get much traction until I hit 3rd

The cam was priced right that if I did get it and never installed it, I could sell it for the same price.

Gears make up for alot of low end loss

hmmm. this has got me thinking a bit. if what i am readin is correct then just running a .040 gasket on a t2 with a stock head would be pretty much as close as u can get w/o flycutting.

if this is not your only car then you could just put the cam in and check the clearance couldn't you? Wouldn't that be the most definate answer you could possibly get?
Just some more food for though

I have asked and dont think it will fit. What everyone tells me is put it in and measure it. I am milling .024 with a .040 gasket. I think that will fit. cam in sig.
