What needs replaced with the clutch
I think I've decided on the LS7 clutch.
First, do I need a new flywheel, or can I have mine resurfaced?
What else will in need/want to replace? Pilot bearing, slave, master clylinder, or what????
I've heard of doing a drill mod for the corvette hydraulics? Is it necessary, or can I get some other year hydraulics, or what?
Seems like I've read this or that on everything and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.
I changed out the whole hydraulic system with new 04 Z06 m/c and slave. Do the drill mod while you have the hydraulics out. The restriction in the Vettes is in the slave clylinder line. The old slave was badly worn and I was really surprised since it only had 27k on it.
I got a remote bleeder line from steve d on this forum. Get one, it is worth it to be able to bleed or flush the system from underneath the hood instead of under the car in a hard to reach location.
You have to get a new flywheel with the LS7 setup as yours won't work. You can get a new LS7 setup for around $400 if you look in the right places. You still have to buy the m/c, slave, pilot bearing, and remote bleeder. I changed mine out myself and it is such a PITA I only wanted to do it once is why I changed everything out.
So far the LS7 clutch has worked great. No chatter and can shift it at 6500 rpm with no problem.
