Start up and walk around video:

The time has come to part with my LS2 swapped 996 Carrera.

The chassis currently has 154k miles, LS2 engine from 06 GTO has 20k miles(documented). It holds a clean California title, im the 2nd owner.

What can I say about this car? Purists will come up with a million reasons to why they hate it right up until they take a ride in it.

An LS swap had been on my mind for quite some time before I started this project over 2 years ago. Most cars I was interested in, someone had already done an LS swap to and I wasn't 100% thrilled to begin on a project that had been done multiple times before and already seen by most. I wanted something unique.

By chance, I ran into White Out's 996 LS1 swap thread on here, ls1tech. I was captivated. Me not being a diehard Porsche enthusiast, just an overall car lover had no issue with the idea of a V8 in the back of a Porsche. And that's when my 996 hunt began.

Anyways, onto more important things, like details about the car and swap. The 996 Renegade Hybrids swap kit was used to mount the engine in the car and to the original, rebuilt trans axle. The car has retained perfect drivability after the swap was completed. Its a joy to drive without any added effort and has the power of a raped ape.

The exterior and interior and in pretty good shape for a car that this age and that has been driven 154k miles. It does have several imperfections but it is in above average condition for the miles. It was garaged its entire life and it shows.

All instruments on the original Porsche gauge cluster(Oil pres, Water temp, RPM, ect..) function as they should thanks to the extensive wiring and integration of all necessary Porsche sensors onto the LS2 engine.

The LS2 is 100% GM factory original built, I bought it from a Chevrolet engine depot, it was removed from an 06 GTO with 13k miles. I've driven the car a very reliable and fun 7,000 miles ever since completing the swap.

I opted to keep the original cable style throttle(Of course, modified length) and that's why you will notice in the pictures that I used an LS6 intake manifold. Custom intake made with GTO 5 pin MAF and K&N filter.

C6 oil pan.

The exhaust is not loud. I used C6 manifolds with straight piping to the original 996 mufflers. I would compare the sound to my stock C5 Z06.

Engine management/electronics is from PSI Conversion using a 411 PCM with a custom tune.

The trans axle was rebuilt before i purchased the car, it shifts through all gears without any issues. The shorter gearing helps push this car very impressively for a stock LS2 motor.

The cooling system is original, only modifications are the plumbing in the rear of the car where it was modified to adapt to the C6 LS2 water pump.

I installed H&R Street coilover suspension and front wheel bearings right after buying the car. Power steering was deleted, steering wheel feedback is very precise and true. The car's suspension feels tight.

Despite what many other's on Porsche forums have said, I was able to fit the 996 Turbo Hollow wheels which are 18x8 in the front and 18x11 for the rear. These are very lightweight and fit the car just right.

This project was done by me from A-Z. The car was not passed onto a shop or multiple to complete. That's recipe for disaster. I firmly believe that if you want something executed just like you imagine, it must be done by your own hands.

There's a lot more I could add, im sure I missed some details of things that were put into the car. Any serious potential buyers are welcome to contact me privately, otherwise, i'll be checking back on this thread and replying to any comments. More pictures could be provided.

Thanks for checking this out,

Sil

Hi, thanks for the compliment. I can't blame anyone for thinking this would be a pain to work on because that was my thinking before i began wrenching on the car.
There is enough room and access to remove and replace all 8 spark plugs working with just the rear hatch open. Header replacement/ exhaust work would be much easier than a C5 corvette. No need to move any parts out of the way. There is no subframe directly under the engine so lots of room if you have the car up on 4 jack stands or lift.
I have not tried but i assume the intake manifold would be possible to remove as its so close to the fire wall but it all fasteners could be reached fairly easy and the manifold could be slid back towards the rear of the car and out?
As far as any head work and cam install, I'd pull the engine and transaxle down together and do the work with engine out. Removal would take any skilled mechanic with proper working environment about 4 hours.

I was a bit confused when i read the comment about the pictures as i checked my thread from 3 different devices of mine. Thank you to the second reply that confirmed they are live. I will add more pictures today

I am at work... maybe its a web filter. I just don't see any broken links. I will check it at lunch from my phone.

*edit* See them clear as can be on my phone. Nice car.

The car didn't meet the reserve on ebay and so i've decided to take my time with the sale. I received some interesting offers including a trade offer for a turbo twin frc which looks like an amazing build but Im looking for mostly cash. but am willing to entertain trade offers+ cash

thanks for all your views!

WOW! This looks like a great build, wish I had the funds and the space for it. Good luck with the sale and I can vouch for a few things:

1. SUPER fun to drive (driving characteristics and seeing peoples' faces when they realize it has an LS)
2. power steering is un-necessary
3. coilovers and turbo wheels transform the car's handling
4. easy to work on, there is a ton of room in the engine bay

White Out, Thank you for the kind words. This build was very much inspired by your 996 LS1 build. Thank you for answering my questions i had along the way.

Several more pictures and a walk around video have been added.

3 yrs ahead of schedule for me. What I'm looking for exactly or a pristine 997.2. GL it'll sell when the right buyer comes along. Nice work!

VERY nice car.
It kind of make me sick though because I just bought my wife a 911. I wish I had seen this first.
