When I said flat part I meant the mounting flange not the rest of it.

My thought was to make it a little deeper and use that extra distance to 3m tape it to the factory panel, it would have to be perfect to work, I don't know if you can mold one close enough or not?

It wouldn't be using any extra carbon, and it seems like the mold would be simpler because it now has one less bend to it, and you could cut the excess off with a band saw in one cut instead of cutting a circle like you are now. If this is possible it seems like it would be cheaper and easier for you. All while looking better, hopefully.

If this seems too hard I change just let me know. just some creative criticism to hopefully help you and your design succeed.

After you make your new mold you could have two designs to offer customers if they just hate my idea.

Ps you should make it a hair larger than the hole so the body sits inside your product, to minimize visual ridges. Does any of this make sense? I have the hardest time explaining myself online...

I'm confused, I can't picture what u r saying....... once u pull out factory pieces, there is only a lip that protruded toward the center of the whole around the entire edge. There is nothing behind the hole, no extra fender lip, no extra wall, nothing for a deeper carbon wall to attach to.......

I apologize if this has been covered, but is the carbon smoothed and able to be painted? I really like the design and am glad I stumbled onto this thread, but my car is black and while I like the design, I feel like it would get lost on a black car. A set that I could put a nice silver onto on the other hand I think would find its way into my budget.

Think of the fender holes as a cup. Now think of his product as a cup. We will put tape on the inside rim of his cup and sit the fender inside of product, with only the width of the tap overlapping. Make sense? It's the same idea as stacking drinking cups.

I've never removed my honeycombs, I assume the fender holes are thin right? Or are they flat to match his original product?

T/A98, if I'm understanding what you want to correctly, the only way I can picture it to work is to hollow out the stock plastic piece and glue the carbon to it. If you cut the lip off and then try to tape the backside of the part to the little lip in the fender, your only talking about 1/8" at the most of attachment in a vertical situation. Idk, maybe I'm just not following what your saying right. The holes in the fender are not like a cup holder, they are just infinite holes.

Got mine also. Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. Well worth the money. Probably worth half again or even twice what they cost. If anyone is on the fence, jump in - you won't regret it.

Thank you Jenson for a kick *** addition to my car!
