I have decided to make a build thread for the new motor going into the car by hopefully Spring 2015. The car is going from a cam only LS1 to an LS7 based 441 and built 4L60E to a PowerGlide. The motor is in the beginning stages. The shortblock is complete and now im in the process of deciding on what cam and heads to run. It will be a high compression all motor setup, which I may decide to spray in the future and why I went with Callies/ Wiseco forged internals. I plan on this being a 90/10 strip/street setup. Your opinions and advice is welcome and Ill keep the updates and pics coming as I go. Im sure Ill have a lot of questions so ill be visiting this thread quite frequently.

What sort of compression are you planning on running? Also what bore and stroke are you running? I built a 454 with some aftermarket casting ls7 heads...my thread is in my signature if you want to take a look....Hoping to dyno mine next week...

I have read through your entire build thread Briou and that's going to be one badass build for sure. I'm patiently waiting for the dyno results . A lot of the questions I had have been answered in your thread and I'm sure I'll have more as I go through my build. Anyways thanks for checking out my build as I continue to follow yours.

I plan on running around 12.5/ 13 to 1, somewhere in that range. I'm not even sure on the limits of e85. It's a 4.125x4.125 motor

I think you can you can run higher than that on static compression. Best to consult your engine builder though. I have no idea what dynamic comp. people usually run on E85 though

Yeah I agree you should be able to run more than 12.5:1 static....

yeah this is how inexperienced I am with e85. I will consult my builder once i get a little more figured out with the setup. Im going to go for as much compression as I safely can on e85.

Things are going to be slow here for a while as im in the process of moving into a 2 bay shop so ill have a bit more room to work

At least that is a good reason for a build to slow down...better than a lot of other reasons for a build to slow progress...

I would be at least 14:1 on corn for a NA motor.

got the heads bought. LS7 castings ported by cary. Im going to have them cleaned up, new valve guides and milled. I havent had a whole lot of time been working crazy hours to fund the build and hopefully have everything said and done by next spring. I have also been working with Martin at Tick performance the whole way so far, great guy to deal with.
