Default HKE still in business??

Not trying to push anything if he's not a sponsor anymore, just trying to understand if Eric is still in business. Googled and couldn't find his site any longer.

Serious? He built the 383 ls1 in my old TA and a buddy's 408 ls. Didn't even know he was a Ford guy.

Yeah Erik's still in business. He moved out to La Grange, TX. It's just him and another guy so he's not taking on too much work nowadays. Should still be able to get a hold of him through his old email.

Last I saw, he was working on a 523ci RHS based LS build.

I've kept quiet for too long....

Two years ago I purchased an HKE 427 through Chris at CC Performance. I was an idiot and paid up front ($19,250). I was told that we could have it done in two weeks. I thought that was a bit ambitious and was happy to give extra time to get it done. The excuses started with parts shortages from the manufactures, broken down trucks, loss of employees, sickness, guy came and took my block as collateral against another engine he hasn't finished yet, no money to buy parts, etc. etc. etc... In October of last year, I gave up and demanded my money back. Since then, the excuses have been the same. "Doesn't have any to give me.. In two weeks, I will get you at least half when I get paid for this other engine I'm building... etc..etc..etc..." I contact them twice a month and get the same results every time. I am finally at the end of my rope with these guys. I now believe they are working together to scam us all into buying engines with no intention of providing anything for the money... If you have any stories like mine with these guys, please post so that I can gather the evidence needed for the FBI. Of course, now that I've said something, I will be glad to clear their names if they respond and make good on their promises to me to return my money. Until then, I have no reason to believe they aren't just a couple of con artists. I would keep my distance if I were you unless you hear a positive outcome of this story. And then, I certainly wouldn't pay up front.

Sorry to hear about your bad situation. It look me quite a bit longer than I wanted to fet my engine although I did change things a couple times but I did get what I paid for in the end.

I know, old thread but Erik Koenig and HKE built my 408ci to order with the cam of my choices, pistons, rods, etc. The motor showed up on time and ran perfect right out of the box.

Same here, Erik was great. I just didn't know if he was still building.

look up Horsepower Research in McKinney, TX, pretty sure it's him but he's not a sponsor so I can't post a link.

I don't recommend HKE for my own reasons. the 2 motors I had built lasted around 2k miles total. Nothing but ignored calls, missed deadlines, and excuses.

That sucks on two blown HKE motors.

Who is the best around now? LME charges an insane amount...

That’s funny. I got my short block for less than what TSP wanted. And I got all Callie’s rotating assembly and gas ported wisecos. Their price was with the house brand junk.

Eric helped a lot of us out over the years with quality advice about our builds. Erik had a lot of insight and expertise being an instructor at SAM. He was kind enough to take time to review and comment on the parts planned for my 383 LS1 build back in the day. I still have those PM's from over a decade ago. Erik helped many others with his knowledge. It's only natural many members would want to know how HKE and Eric are these days.
