Default RX-7 LSX Swap

Well, I have always wanted to do this, and now its actually happening. I got a good deal on a buddy's old RX7 FC, and have managed to prep it for the motor and tranny. Hopefully the engine/transmission ship soon.....im at a standstill until they do. The motor and transmission are both coming from a 2004 GTO (LS1/T56). I will upload more pics as the build progresses.

Figured I would post an update...

After paying thousands of dollars for an engine/transmission 1 whole month ago, I finally demanded a refund from an individual on this board. The ONLY ONLY ONLY reason I have decided not to name the person in question, despite his repeated lies and failure to provide a tracking number 30 days after payment (despite giving me "his word" countless times), is the fact that he has had pressing family obligations to attend to. Please be careful when paying for large ticket items online, I almost got burned and will never go about this the same way. I'm grateful I utilized PayPal.

I will continue to update pics as the situation changes.

Found a new legit seller and picked up the motor/trans last night. At this point Im trying to figure out what head/cam to run; leaning toward 5.3 heads/tsp shelf grind. Its been 1 month; still waiting on my swap kit to show up....

Waiting for my claim with paypal to clear so I can get my money back from the original seller, then hopefully things will begin moving forward at a faster pace.

Hopefully these pics upload nicer than they did previously.

It's been a while since I updated this thread and a lot has happened in the last few months. I'll start with a few new details of the build:

TSP Tsunami Cam
LS7 lifters
LS6 intake
PRC 225 62cc as cast heads
LT headers

I'm currently installing checking springs in order to check PTV this weekend with a dial indicator. I'm still up in the air on injectors; I've been told to go 42lbs SVO but 42lbs sounds high to me. Once I verify clearance, it's on to installing the Hinson kit in the roller. I'll update again once I get the mounts in.

Traction becomes a serious issue with a LS swap, make sure to get some sticky tires.

Buddy of mine has an FD ls3 swap, lots of fun. No traction and that thing revs like crazy as he still has the rotary gears and so little weight.

See this is what Im afraid of. Im sure it is fun regardless, but I want to be able to hook. This is my first real build and Im not knowledgable when it comes to tire/gear combos for these types of builds.

His tires aren't very sticky and I don't know what, if anything, he's done to help out traction in the suspension. So I'm sure that it can be improved on a bunch.

Look into doing the Ronin 8.8 Explorer IRS swap. The FC suspension design sucks for drag racing, but you can still pull 1.5x 60 foot tikes, which is decent.

I have and do when necessary, but that forum feels nearly dead to me. Doesn't seem to be a lot of activity and it is more difficult to get answers. The search bar is helpful though.

Start a build thread over there, those seem to have a decent amount of activity and questions seem to be answered quickly! I lurk there a great deal, I'd love a swapped FD!
