Measuring washers for converter

Measuring washers for converter I know this is a silly question but...
Is this the correct way to measure the washers?
I would think so as it's being clamped this way.
Also, how "close" is close to being the same?

I'll add a little more from my experience. It's best to use the other end that way your measuring across the whole surface of the washers to see any possible inconsistencies. Regular old run of the mill washers aren't finished the best and sometimes have a small wire edge on one side from being punched out. These washers I always sand both sides to eliminate that problem. There are machine washers that are manufactured way nicer not having the wire edge and are way more consistent in there thickness from one to the other.

After bell housing bolts are tight, check free movement of converter. It should have 1/16 to 1/8″ (ON GM ONLY) of clearance between pads on converter and flex plate. If you have more than 1/16 to 1/8″, install equal thickness washers to reduce clearance to 1/16 to 1/8″ (ON GM ONLY).

Thanks, I'm aware of that as I mentioned I have .23 from pads to flexplate.
I was asking what the +/- was between the washers.
What's acceptable ? Say you have 2, .0645" washers and 1, .0672" washer is this too far out?
Naturally I'd want 3 of the exact same .06 ones
I'm going to ACE with my calipers when it opens this morning.
I need to get my car off my lift and I want to see if the restall did what we wanted it to do.

I would think .003 wouldn't be a big deal. But as I said with sanding both sides of the washers real quick it almost always gets them within a .001 of each other. Don't rule out stacking washers either. The machine washers I use I can get in .030 and .060 and can usually get close enough with a combo of them. Once lightly sanded and super glued together they aren't coming apart and are just like putting a single washer in.
