Default Just Another cam/stock heads fbody UPDATED, NOW WE GOT HEADS!!!!

2000 camaro ss m6 106k mwc 9 inch
Vrx5, 236/238 .605 .601
241 heads, ls6 intake, super old 1 7/8 stepped dynatechs, slp lid with flopack
custom 3 inch y into flowmaster merge into 4 inch dynamax bullet, dumped before axle

The uncorrected numbers were 404/381

On a different dynojet 4 years ago, all it had was slp flopack and stock exhaust minus a flowmaster and the 10 bolt, it made 315 and 325 torque.

The hp numbers are spot on whats expected but im very surprised with the torque. A lil more torque than expected and its flat. Was above 350 torque from 3250 to 5750.

O and this is through a fram paper filter.

i went with ls1techs advice and not only got heads, but found a fast 90/90 combo on here to do at the same time. the car now has

Same cam
same headers/exhaust

we now have wegner 799s with psi 1511 springs and coated titanium both intake and exhaust from forum member SBWRENCH topped with the ws6 store trunion rockers. also have new rods and morel 5315s.

picked up a FTRA 98 lid and a truck maf

got an unported fast 90 with a nick williams 90 tb with denso 36 lb

different dyno, i took it to complete street performance in west chester pa. a newish sponsor here. good group of guys and the owner/tuner andrew was a good guy to deal with. for $400, i took them my pcm and they did a mail order tune on it to get a base tune and to load the injector data so i could drive the car to them. then i got a dyno tune that he spent about 50 minutes on after strapping it down, then he did a 30 minute or so street tune to fine tune things. im sure he would have spent more on it if it was needed but it didn't need much tweaking. good value in my opinion.

humidity was 45 and the temp was 63 so good conditions. it made 458/408 corrected, and 475 uncorrected. im very happy. just wish i went with a low 230s cam and im sure that the tq dip around 4000 wouldn't be there. so assuming both dynes are semi close to each other on calibration, i gained 65 hp and 36 tq. the original tune wasn't the best so i assume i got 10 from a better tune so 55 from the new mods. still good gains considering i had an ls6 intake before and these are 799 castings with stock size valves.

i tried several times to rotate the pics but every time they just stay at a 90 degree

its tough to see in the pics, but from 4500 down, i never lost and had gains between 10-20 on both hp and tq. after 4500 is a completely different story.

old setup
4500 322 hp 370 tq
5000 351 hp 368 tq
5500 376 hp 359 tq
6000 391 hp 342 tq
6500 392 hp 319 tq

new setup
4500 348 hp 409 tq +26 hp +39 tq
5000 379 hp 401 tq +28 hp +33 tq
5500 427 hp 407 tq +51 hp +48 tq
6000 452 hp 397 tq +61 hp +55 tq
6500 457 hp 367 tq +65 hp +48 tq

the original dyno looks smoother because its stretched a little more since that guy started his pull at 2700 and the new tuner started his all the way down at 1700 fore some reason so that compresses the graph a little

Nice job, really

It takes practice for sure. my first 60's were in the 2.2-2.5 range. Your 120 mph trap speed means the car is making some steam. You're in mid 11's territory with that mph. If you intend to continue, you'll learn to work the car some more. You'll commonly hear this called "driver mod". Most of your ET gain will be in the launch and knowing your shift points.

Yep the MPH is definitely in line with your mods, so at least you know it's running right. Is the car full weight more or less?

no ac, but a mwc9 out back. that evens out the ac weight loss. honestly i got scared for some reason. the car felt like it was gonna vibrate apart. but on the way home on the highway felt just fine. seemed like the steering had play in it on both sides if that makes sense. feels like i was doing 160 tho, maybe cause ur 10 feet from the wall on my drivers side idk.

also will need to not be running 32 psi in the 555s next time i go.

the tune still isn't that great. was street tuned with leak collectors. not sure what the timing is. drove that way for awhile. then got lucky at a dyne day locally and for 75 bucks got 3 pulls and he leaned it out a lot for me since the leaky collectors got fixed. thats why the numbers kept going up as he leaned it out. should really take it to a dyno to fine tune the timing a little, and the idles pretty rich

That's a strong mph. Get some tires on there and run 11s

the best part is 5,000 miles ago race proven motorsports in de told me they heard a noise in the motor when i was in there getting something simple done. Then shafted me for an extra 110 bucks to pull the pan and cut open the filter, they said they found bearing material, and instantly started talking what options i have.

As far as tires, im not chasing the best drag times. I still like keeping my car on stock wheels. Half the momey, half i dont mind 10 spokes. I will probably get another set of rear 10 spokes and out some nto5r on them and swap them the few times a year i do go to the strip. Gotta find some locally that are curb rashed and cheap

That seems like a lot of mph for what you dyno'd and what you have. Congrats! What gears? When my car was heads/cam it made around 440 rwhp (sae). It would trap between 121-123. Best it ran was 11.39 at 123.6. Most of the time I couldn't run 11s. I ran drag radials on the stock rims. My race weight was 3,650 lbs.

Almost certain it was 120. I remember being like "how did i get to 120". I have 3.90s. On that one and onky run it bogged not spun, due to the 3200 rpm launch.

Which heads?
Never mind just re-read first post.
Congrats, nice Results & combo.
Good move with the FAST 90,
The ls6 Intake would have choked it
Quite a bit.

You should gain a few mph when the car actually hooks up

Yeah with 2.5 60ft's your trap speed should go up slightly when you hook better
