I couldn't tell who won the slowest drag race I've seen in awhile.

This is interesting if someone was willing to spend a few grand on their 305. But then you'd be spending a few grand on a 305...???

On Thirdgen.org, there were a few guys obsessed with keeping the original engines on their cars so they'd be "numbers matching" down the line. They would get 335Ci stroker kits and all kinds of **** to make the little 305 perform. Most of us told them to pull that **** engine and drop a 350 or LM7/LS1 in there. The 305 is crap and very few if any 305 cars are going to be more valuable simply because they had a 305 in it.

A stroked 305 would be like the worst race car engine in the world. Be like an NA 4.6

^ Red 91/92 Z28 on TGO. Blew his LB9. All he did was the "Powerhouse" 335 stroker. Everything else went back to stock. He ran a 13'2 with Zero supporting mods. Didnt even have headers. Dude actually put stock cam back in. I'll look for it later.

I knew a couple bolt on 305s in Md. Fastest bolt on car was low 13s

That was a good close run. I did see the 302 get off the gas coming off the line though. He may have started to spin. That pause was enough for him to play catch-up and then run out of space. I think on a clean run, the 302 would have had him but not by much.

As much as I love a good thirdgen, the 302 shouldn't lose to the 305 car. The Mustang of the era was a huge pile of ****, but it was light and fast when it worked.
