only if you are "port matching" ported heads (intake ports on heads made larger so intake ports on manifold are machined to match)...or running a 58mm Throttle Body, you need to open the stock 54mm holes to 58mm

On an LSX fooling with your intake can be an HP adder on the LT1 it's basically just there. It's not restrictive and doesn't add or restrict power to the engine so fooling with it is really pointless unless your increasing the TB size and ports for bigger heads. Like others said it's better to play with it only to match it to your big heads. It's kind of the reason the LT1 is a yesteryear motor. It doesn't breathe like an LSX does. If we're talking engine only...The LT1 responds to Head porting, big bores, and big cams that's where you want to put your money in.

Like others said, not worth it until you need it. LE did tell me once that they shave off about 3lbs though when he ports them. That's quite a bit of material.

I have a HIGHLY modded lt1 Intake that will work with lt4 heads (welded material above roof of runner) plus many other things if you or anyone is interested!! I'd sell cheap, just collecting dust in my shop
