Default ms4 information

the ms4 was recommended to me by the sales guy at tsp when i called told him my mods, 1 7/8 long tubes 3in x pipe, dls2, 92tb 98mmlid, 4k stall and will be throwing some 243 heads soon i see most people on the site bashing the ms4 saying the lobes are too rough and that you gotta spin it to 7000-7200rpm when i talked to the sales person they said when the cam was brought in house the lobes changed so its no longer on that lobe that is super harsh and that it makes peak hp at 6400 so there would be no reason to spin it to 7k just figured id share some information that i got straight from TSP

Yep that info has been out for a while, but thanks for sharing. So are you definitely going with that cam?

ahh alright well i apologize to the people that are rereading info i just seen alot of people stating those facts so i figured this might help 😎 and im struggling on picking a cam ive talked with tick, a sales person at btr, and tsp, tsp recommended me their ms4, tick recommended the polluter V2 and the sales person at btr recommended the ls1 stage 4 and the ls3 stage 3? which seemed a little weird

No apology necessary, I'm sure there are others that are not aware of this. The MS4 with some ported 243's and 3.73 gear would be a strong setup with the rest of your mods

It should be noted that any new tsp cam uses tsp lobes not comp cams. The ms3 and ms4 no longer use xer aggressive lobes. The cams are aggressive but the ramps are alot better and so is cam design.

Id recommend the ms3 actually. Prob fit your bill better imo.

im thinking the same thing ive seen people say the ms4 is a dog down low but with a 4k stall i dont think any of the down low stuff matters sense the stalls gonna throw it up rignt into the power, the 243s are a stepping stone sense im getting them for free over the winter ill end up selling them and getting a set of tfs 220s sense ive herd nothing but good things and cam have them ported to 235 if i ever need it

It would prob be more to your liking. The ms4 is a great cam, but more like a light switch above 3500. The ms3 would prob be better and more fun to drive around with better ptv esp if your 243s are milled any etc.

If you're getting those 243's for free why not get them worked over by AI, TSP, etc...The TFS 220 head is great, but with a good port job on the 243 heads it will be very close, and be much cheaper

well the port work is really expensive imo almost the cost of a set of heads its crazy, and if i pay to get them ported then i got that money put into the head and its maxed out where i sell the 243 to offset some of the cost of the 220 puting it almost in the same price range of getting the new heads

When ya looking to do the cam and head install ?

I'm running the Polutter V2 with PRC 243'S, Yank PT 4000, msd Air Force intake with a 102 throttle body.
3.73's and spinning it to 7000. Shift extensions drop to about 6100 rpms.

Pulls hard all the way and will have track times in about a month.

Our tfs 220s with dual .650 springs are $1785 shipped.
Youll spend about 900ish to 1200 plus cost of springs etx. AI looks like 1195 for stock valves and add $300 for btr duals.

Yep Livernois and others are all around that $1000 range give or take a few. I guess if you can sell them for a decent price and get a good set of used TFS heads for a good price then that might not be so bad

thank you for the information this reflects directly on what i was saying the cost to port the heads just aint worth it sense i got them for free and i see them selling for 400-500 so go in the middle if i sell them for 450 complete i can go buy the tfs heads for 1335 shipped seems like a deal to me unless someone like ai could post somthing convincing me with some not crazy prices or amazing flow numbers beating out the tfs 220s

Tfs 220s have room to grow also. And are avail to ship tomorrow.

If you want a violent max effort cam, our new TRex is right up your alley...but still id recommend the ms3. Its a good overall cam. Brand new tsp lobes.

i did not say there was a problem with them i just said the price to port the heads at livernois vs just stepping up and buying the tfs 220s just dont make sense to me and that selling the 243s and then take the money from that sale and buy the tfs seems to be the best route
