Default odd spot to find oil

put the car up on ramps to check for oil leaks, and found oil here, in the pic the bolt I'm pointing to had oil dripping from it, also dripping from the steering gear boot

, I wanted to say oil pan, but the pan is a good 8-9" away from that bolt. Any ideas?

Most likely from the AC compressor you have your hand on.

There are other threads on this. We have seen drips from that spot for two causes:
- Leaking oil from the A/C Compressor
- Leaking coolant from the weep hole in the water pump (which gets oily and discolored as it flows around the engine components to that spot)

You should probably make sure it's not the water pump, first. How much would it suck if you changed out the A/C system and it turned out not to be it?

How many miles are on the car?

Before you waste any money the proper way to approach this is to clean everything off. Then carefukkly look for the leak, could be the o rings at the back of the compressor.

Probably a toss up, then. That should be too many wear miles, but the age of the car could put you in a situation where seals are starting to go bad in everything.
