I know some may have seen the car in the drag racing forums but for those that have not. 2017 I was rocking a 387CI Lsnext with a k1 crank, compstar rods, wiseco 4.125 bore's, off the shelf from summit tfs 245's, ljms turbo 4 cam, 88/100 forced inductions turbo, ms3 evo pcm, frozen boost cooler, fid 2,000's, fti level 5 glide, quick performance 9" with 3.42 gears, and all of the other usual stuff.

Here is the build thread if interested.

I have a few quick questions on cam and intake choice basically. I have tried both the Pro Flo and the Holley race sniper. mph was a decimal place different. Could have been anything really to make that difference.

The intakes felt similar as far as power delivery.

My question is other then a hi ram what intakes are you guys using to spin over 8,100 rpm and make good power with?

I shift mine at 8,100-8,150 in first and cross the traps at 7,550-7,600 in 2nd.

I just like trying different things and would love to get this combo to rev a little bit higher. Or atleast make more power around 7,5-8,000

A very strong performer and some serious rpm's !

Would a HiRam really make much difference than the Sniper ? Plenum volume in both is likely similar and the Holley probably has shorter runners which you'd think would push power higher.

Although....and who knows if it makes much difference. Port alignment with the basic Sniper and my TFS225 Cathedrals was utterly *****. How were yours, could things like that make a difference up top ?
Would the HiRam be abetter fit ?

I guess when looking for every last bit, things like that do need to be good. And I would also say, that on the basic Sniper and I would assume ProFlo and HiRam would be the same...manifold port runner angle was very poor in relation to the port itself, which cant help matters.
The manifold runner would ideally be at a much reduced angle to get a straighter shot at the port. Again, maybe it's worse with cathedrals vs square ports ?

Is your cam a shelf cam or is it optimised for power in the 7-8k range ?

I had a High Ram for a rectangular port LS3, and port alignment was pretty poor with it too.

One of my favorite cars on this site.

You should try a 7 second pass with the t-tops off, lol.

What about a custom built sheetmetal intake? You could work with the builder on volume, runner length/size?

I have the shelf 4 turbo cam from John. He said with an s400 there isnt much more cam I can run without backpressure issues.

The race sniper fit the 245's decent. The pro flo was much better.

The pro flo was 9 lbs heavier and definitely held more heat.

I honestly couldnt tell much of a difference in the two on the car.

Yessir! I had a pretty low average of boost in first gear. I had a year of struggles in 2017 with making the suspension work. I seemed to make it to 8.70's looking like a pro. Being my first fast rwd car and a tq arm car to boot. I struggled to make it work past there But I was determined.

5.5ish psi leave at 4,000 rpm.

You can see the dip in rpm(white) where it definitely wants more power there through 1st gear.

The last 1/2-1/4 second of first gear it was over 20 psi. I have it ramped in by rpm to help keep the 60 manageble since I am 4-5 successful passes in.

A little bit of voltage drop from 13.8 to 13.2. Ill try to address that somehow.
Average of 26 psi in 2nd. It was ramped from 24.5 to a couple little peaks of 27. The single 66mm seems to flutter around a whole psi which is fine by me. IT holds strong. Just moves around a bit.

Thanks man! I really enjoy the car.

Time to take out the soft honda civic seats and put stiff *** kirkeys in it lol.

The track officials thought the funny dice was funny. They made me tuck it in the cage after they seen the car trap 175 lol

So Really. All in all I am completely happy with the car. Mainly because of its reliability.

I have about 6,000 miles on it over the summer. 8.89@154 on 13.5 psi wastegate pressure was the slowest it goes.

ITs been a blast.

But in true fashion, Id like to refine the entire thing and make it as fast as I can without sacraficing its reliability.

So I sold the longblock before I left vacation in florida. Decided to splurge and buy an aluminum Lsnext and do the same setup. The block is 120lbs lighter. Ill also mini tub the car and cut a few lbs with a goal of 200 more lbs out.

Very happy to see your results using a K1 crank. I was a little worried about the one in my new LSX engine but it looks like you are making it live fine at the same performance levels I was looking to see this year.

Just to clarify in my mind, I did notice on the build thread that the heads look like square port on page 11. Did I miss where you swapped over to cathedral 245's at some point or are they the TFS 255's?

Great work.

I assume you where out of gear on your 1/2 mile runs? I would expect that car to see 210-220 if ti was stable at speed and you ran it out. consider a GV behind the glide?
