Default GM LS3 LS376/525 Crate Motor

For those who have the LS376/525, what did your final dyno numbers end up being (and mods when dynode)?

Do you have any 1/4 Mile times?

How are are the temps on a road course after 20 minutes?

How is the drivability in traffic?

How is the seat of the pants feel compared to an LS1?

Bobby Stipkovic was making about 520 rwhp on a 416 stroker LS3 with unported stock LS3 heads. Best time was 40.45 1/4 mile.

I put a hot cam in my wife's 2010 SS convertible which is basically what that engine is. It made 421 rwhp and ran 8.21 @ 91 with the stock transmission tune in it and stock converter. Have tuned the transmission now but haven't ran it again but feels way better.

The Hot Cam gets 495HP crank, the ASA cam gets 525HP crank. Your wife's car is down 30HP from the ASA cam which is in the LS376-525

Exactly!

BTW.....a friend of mine put the same engine in his '96 Impala. He pulled after about 3500 miles and installed a BTR cam with better drivability and more power as a result.

If it were my money (and I know it's not) I would get a base LS3 crate and do a cam/valve spring swap BEFORE it gets installed in the car.

Jus' sayin'.....

Exactly! Again...… lol. There are SO many cams that are better than those old GM grinds. But, it's not my money either..... lol

LOL this is how the general removes surplus parts off the shelf. They should just give you a FREE asa cam with every LS crate purchase. WS6 store has the hot cam market cornered lmfao

What GM should do is regrind EVERY Hot Cam and ASA cam in stock to .600" lift, then sell them with a set of necessary(due to smaller base circle..) longer pushrods and a good set of springs as a total kit. They will then fly off the shelves....

So, after all that, does anybody have a stock crate 525 motor in their car?

It looks like @lees02WS6 does. He said he just has to get it tuned. I'm anxious to see what it does.

Old GM grinds are not for max power, never were. they were designed to provide a nice bump in power with low impact to drivability, longevity, spring life, ROI, and the like. IiRC, you still get a warranty on a crate with these cams. Different purpose and constraints than better/custom cams.
