Default Sudden change in pedal feel...why?

Car: 1967 Cougar LS swap with F-body T56, F-body bellhousing, LUK brand 4th gen F-body slave, modern driveline hydraulic pedal adapter, wilwood 3/4" bore MC, stock LS7 flywheel and clutch.

The car has been on the road for about 3 years now and has about 7-10K miles after the swap. Everything was working fine until last night.

I was driving home and I took off fairly quickly from the light. I immediately noticed that the clutch was slipping and 2 seconds later I could smell it. The next thing that I noticed was that the pedal feel was completely different. I used to have a very nice, smooth, fairly soft pedal with about 1-2" of free play at the top. Now the pedal was a lot harder, zero free play at the top, and the clutch engages way higher in the pedal stroke.

It is drivable, but clearly something is off...

I am open to suggestions as to what might have happens.

At this point I am leaning toward a problem with the self adjusting mechanism of the LS 7 clutch.

Andrew

Never really used the self adjusting stuff or looked into them. But I think you can see the position of the adjusting mech from the top side of the cover ?

Could you get a bore scope in there to get a visual on it ?

you can get them dirt cheap on ebay. Some can connect to phone or tablet I think, but I just prefer the handiness of a laptop, big screen and all that. Then just keep the camera in the laptop bag.

Fluid leaking anywhere? If not the LS7 clutch does get sticky when too dorty or when abused with hard dumps. My first one which saw a lot of track duty went weird for lack of a better word and I couldnt shift properly. Ive run two since one in same car one in another and no track trips although beat on regular on the street and np problems either. Could also be your slave has packed it in. Hard to know without tearing it down. Not what you want to hear I know, but probably nec

I would suspect clutch failed....but to confirm you need to pull tranny

weird clutch pedal, smelling burnt clutch...2 basic symptoms of a failing clutch

Just to follow up. I basically did nothing. Drove the car a few times because I was doing some tuning. Just easy driving around town. One day the pedal reverted back to exactly how it was. Works as it did before and no slipping.

I suspect the self adjusting pressure plate did something funny...then reverted back.
