Default Cheap 99-06 Stainless Long tubes on LS Swapped OBS 88-98 Silverado?

I'm looking to change up the exhaust system on my truck to get a more refined exhaust note. Right now it is just loud. I figured while I was changing things up, I'd grab a set of headers and just start from scratch from the engine and work my way back. This truck is my daily driver and I'm really not doing this for a huge bump in performance. I'm more or less doing it to update the exhaust sound with performance being second. My plan so far is to run a pair of Flowmaster Stainless high flow cats, then back to a Dynaflow Ultra X muffler. I'm getting a slight bit of exhaust fumes from the truck and I think some cats will solve this problem to keep my wife happy.

My swap was pretty straight forward with an LQ9 using stock manifolds and 1" setback plates. The rest of the truck is as it came stock. I have a K2500 so I've got the the 4L80e. Many people recommend the Schoenfeld headers, but I don't want to spend $500 bucks on headers and also want Stainless Steel. What I'm wondering is if anyone has tried a set of the 99-06 stainless long tube headers on their OBS 88-98 LS swapped trucks? I'm curious if they will bolt up and work since the oil pan fits so well and in general how well it fits in the truck.

Thanks,
Ryan

I've been wondering this myself, I know that there are coated steel longtubes (pacesetters) for the 99-06 trucks that fit the 88-98 ls swapped 4x4 trucks so to me the stainless versions should as well. I have an lq4/4l80e that I will be swapping into my 96 k1500 this summer and the headers is one of the last things I need to get. i have coated pacesetters longtubes on the truck now with the 5.7 and this is my second set since they rot out in a couple years in new England winters so I'd like to get something stainless for the new motor setup.

I've seen guys use the Ebay stainless 2010 Camaro headers before. I went with them on an 85 k5 they cleared pretty decent only had to clearance the frame a little. My driveline is opposite side of yours so not sure about that but the frame rail distance is almost the same and you don't have front leaf springs. I can take some pics if you like although not the exact same as your swap

Speed engineering makes a nice set at a great price. I've used them several times on swaps and I believe they make a set for the OBS trucks.

I haven't seen a set of Speed engineering long tube headers for the OBS trucks. I'll look a little closer

I didn't know there were any bolt on headers for a 4X4 OBS LS swap; if there is a solution (long or short), I'd like to know.

pacesetter p/n 70-2265 works, got the number from the video below. i had searched up the number and they fit 99-07 nbs trucks so that is why i was thinking maybe a stainless version from a different manufacturer for 99-07 trucks may fit as well. those pacesetters are uncoated so will definitely rot out within a couple years for me at least living in the north east and driving my truck through the winter.

I read in an article on performancetrucks.net where someone chimed in and said that the Speed Engineering headers for 99-07 fit the OBS 88-98, but I can't remember if they said it was 4x4 or 2wd. I was hoping that someone would chime in with some pictures or something.

if they make them for 99-07 4x4's then i would say they will fit, but like you i am waiting on someone who has done it before dropping the coin.

This is the article that I saw, but I'd still like to see some pictures to confirm.

88-98 (99-00 Classic) is OBS, 99-06 (07 Classic) is NBS and 07-13 (14 Classic) is NNBS. Not sure what people are doing though for the current body style.

I sold the truck before I bought headers. From my research it looks like 99-06 would work.
