Smooth riding tire 275 40 17
I am looking for suggestions and experiences with the tires out there now for 275 40 17. It is a 99 z28 camaro daily driver so looking for a smooth ride and performance is not an issue just the ride quality.

For street driving/fun in some corners and good overall tire life I really like my275 40 r17 Cooper zeon rs3-g1. There not directional so you can rotate any way you please. I keep a set of rear 15x10s on hand if I feel like going straight line. For the money there hard to beat. Look em up.

Do all season tires have a softer sidewalk or stiffer sidewall? I would like to get 35,000 miles on the tires because of the hassle of getting them on without damage to my wheels.

2nd on the RIKEN RAPTORS, good tire. Ride well and are super cheap.

I was told by several people and reviews that the BFGoodrich has a harsh ride. I have firehawks now and they are hard cold and warm. Hankook tires I had before rode softer but would not stay balanced. Goodyear’s didn’t last long and wore weird no matter how much rotation I did. Looking for real life experiences to get input to make a decision. Thanks guys keep it coming.

I think I will try the Nitto g2 tire the raptors reviews say they are not quiet tires. I hope to get 20000 miles on them and hopefully it will ride well. The conti’s looks like worse tire wear even though they have a 30000 mile warranty most reviews say it doesn’t even come close to that.

I have the Nitto 555G2 and they seem to have a decent bit of give to them. They are lasting well even though they spin a lot under power. Wet traction is really good too.
They're also pretty cheap tires but not bottom of the barrel.
Cornering is also decent and they tend to have more lateral grip than I have *****.
About my only complaint with them is straight line dry traction...they aren't even as good as the original 555 in that regard.

The all season tires in my size don’t have a lot of positive reviews so I decided to get Nitto or contis. Still thinking. Thanks for the input from experience though it helps a lot!

My experience with the firestone firehawks over what 5 years and 30k now has been that they are not impressive straight line traction and cornering was a bit greasy as id call it. they were a lot better than the old hard khumos that came on the ws6 when i bought it. but for my money these days i'm pretty sure im bound to get the conti's.
I wanted the michelins as they have awesome reviews but they're literally 2x the cost of the continentals. I too care about ride quality as its my DD in the summer and I wish more options were available for an upsized sidewall in 275/50/zr17. The nitto nt555 g2 is available and I saw them on a guys stock t/a. He bought them at walmart of all places for like $140/tire, but when he grabbed 2nd gear leaving the show that car spun hard and was all over the road. That put me off the nittos right then and there.

Conti DWS/6's ride decent drive well and Awesome in the Wet. I've run DWS on 3 different cars.. Always been a good choice.
Michelin's are good as well, buy the speed rated all season and the last forever.. + the Michelin's have the bead guards to help protect from curb rash.

Does anyone know what actual fitment issues would arise in going with a 275/50/17 tire on all 4 corners? That would give a much softer ride, and those tires have a V, or 149 mph rating.
