What's the max you bore/stroke you can sleeve an LS1?

I don’t think its been done on a standard deck block, but I think theres room for a 4.30” stroke. That would get you about 478ci with a 4.20” bore.

For the cost to do an LS1 block you could buy a nice aftermarket block that's better suited for these kinds of builds though.

I know. It's just appealing to have the original engine in it even though it's heavily modified.

I still have my original block but unfortunately the No. 6 rod gave way and did a real nice clearance job on the 6 and 5 sleeves.

But selling the "orignal engine" and putting that cost on a aftermarket block is!

Depends on the end goal. Showing people a stock engine with no boost then putting up huge numbers can be fun. It's also fun when you're limited to a stock block in a racing class. Not everyone wants flashy branded parts.

It would be numbers matching for a low mileage anniversary car.

If the car has over 75K on it, it will never be a high dollar car. Just mod it and enjoy it.

Wouldn't the sleeves have to be about .30 bigger diameter than stock, how would they even fit in an LS1 block?

4.200” has been done which leaves about .200” between the bores. Probably need to use an MID kit rather than a dry sleeve.

It's still the stock block, just not stock internally. You guys are too hung up on junkyard 5.3's I guess.

Please look up the definition of "stock". Its not a "stock block" at all. Next we'll get to hear how you can be on the bolt on list because you bolted on a blower and cam.

You can build a 427 or even a 454 utilizing an LS1 block and I'm pretty sure it was done long before the LS3's and 7's came along. It's just not recommended to go over 4.00 in stroke and even that is pushing it from what I've read but people push the envelope all the time so to each his own and by all means carry on..
