Cool ls1-4l60e 68 corvette, convert to manual

Title says it, looking to change up my current setup and go to a 5 or 6 speed manual. I did the 4l60e because I was driving the car 4 -6 k miles a year with a bad left hip. Now I'm down to under 2000 and rather have the manual for when I do drive it. Looking for pointers on what manual will be easiest swap for the 4l60e on a c3 vette considering I already have conversion mount and driveshaft yoke for the 4l60e. Car last dynoed at 351 rwhp before the ls6 intake and 80mm tb, so it's not a trans killer. Line lock is for fun burnouts

Thanks! -Eric

If your into modding I'm sure a T56 or the TR6060 would be the way to go.

This^^^^^^ Get one out of a Camaro so it bolts up to the engine nicely. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

Not sure what the T56 goes for in your part of the country but I see them in the $1000-$1500 range.

That would be great to find for that kinda money. My 4l60e was new crate in 2014 and only less than 10k miles on it. Hopefully find a market for that in the area.

What's your rear end ratio. With That few miles, you might want to consider a T10 4 speed that fits your ratio. No tunnel mods, stock z bar linkage, etc. If only Richmond still offered their 6 speed.

Yeah if your rear end is ANYWHERE north of 3.55:1 you will want a tranny with OD. Less, the T-10 will work OK

My 68 had a 3.08 in it. A T56 2.66 1st would not be much fun, and a 0.50 OD useless.

Yep and the next thing your looking for was a suitable ring and pinion. That's what makes modifications so much fun! Your most likely going to end up needing to modify something else....

I haven't done a T56 swap in a C3, I used a 4L60E for my LS swap. I would be shocked if the T56 fits without a pretty good amount tunnel mods. The T56 is long and quite square at the top. Not saying it's not a good swap just needs more work.
I have a T56 magnum in my 68 C10. I looked for used T56 so some time. Most had high miles that needed freshening at least or a total overhaul. So I ended up buying a new magnum. I used a LS7 clutch and flywheel along with a 2000ish Camaro slave cylinder. Has worked great. There is a guy on the C10 site that goes by Captain Fab and he makes a great brake booster mount for C10's that includes a master cylinder mount along the correct linkage for the clutch pedal to the master. I don't know if he has anything for a C3 but it's worth asking the question. On my C10 I'm using a Wilwood 3/4 inch master. Good luck with your swap.

It fits. I put an LS1 and a T56 into a ‘75 and the only mod I had to do was enlarge the opening around the shifter.

I've been on the road for work so out of thread, and car out for paint. Rear is a 3.08. I've looked at the new custom made magnums, pricey but they'll build to my spec. I'm just a junkyard hound and the fun is in doing it cheaper than the guy at the cars & coffee who buys everything new and has a shop put it in (you know that guy, tons of money, changes cars ever couple of years). If I can do with a j'yard tranny, even if I have to refresh it first, that's cool.

With a 3.08 rear you'll need to get a new trans with around a 3.0 1st gear and probably nothing over a 0.6 OD. Changing the corvette rear ratio is kind of expensive. Add to that the addition of a clutch pedal assembly.
If you're looking for a cheap junkyard solution, a corvette pedal assembly and 2.88 1st gear corvette T10 would be a solution that wouldn't break the bank.
I put a Richmond 6 speed (3.28 1st, 0.76 6th) with the 3.08 rear in my 6.0 LS 68 corvette swap. Almost perfect gears.

This sounds like way more work that it is worth. The car is geared great now and I am sure it rips...why mess with it?
