Default 1966 Buick LeSabre LS Swap help

Hey guys, Ive got a 1966 Buick LeSabre 4 door, currently has a running driving 340 v8/ th400 trans. I am looking for a swap kit if made for it. I have a 2001 5.3 Ill be using N/A while I build the 1999 lq4 for boost on my engine stand. This is considered a B Body but Im only finding swap parts for the B body impala, the wheel base of the Buick is 123. It seems I am going to have issues around the oil pan/cross member area. Any and all help will be appreciated, I searched around and didnt know where to post this so be easy on me. Thanks guys

I would think the Holley 302-3 oil pan will work just fine. My 67 Skylark had a 340, I cut up and welded an F body pan before Holley started making pans. The next time I pull the engine for any reason it will have the Holley pan when I re-install it.

Ok Ill continue to read up on it. I was thinking 65-70 B body stuff will interchange as far as Impala/ LeSabre but Im running into dead ends. Ill keep researching and I thank you for letting me know about the Holley pan, I looked at a couple of those but was not sure. Mock-up will be the tell tell.

Would it be similar to a Cutlass of that era?

You looking at BRP Hotrods.....yes?

In any case, Impala....LeSabre....same thing as far as fitment is concerned. The only reason why the Chevys are mentioned is because there are a lot more of them being 'converted' than Buicks.

Best of luck!

You may find the frame to be like the Impala, without the Chevy mount holes. So the B-body stuff may work with some drillling or welding. Check out a same year Caprice etc.

Thank you guys, thats what I have been looking at recently to find some information is the impala. Seems the motor has got to be raised and still confused on what oil pan will clean front crossmember and still clear the steering linkage behind the crossmember. Its mixed info on the Holley 302-1, 302-2, 302-3 pans. Ill be running a Chevy TH400. Ill keep reading, again thanks to all who have chimed in!

If you cant find specific info on the b body as far as the oil pan is concerned, I'd look into what the first gen f body guys are running. Tons of those swaps out there and they are also rear steer.

If it's the same as a Impala.... you will need the 302-1 pan as the other pans have a longer sump length and this will interfere with the steering linkage

For some reason the pictures I replied with went to my album. I tried posting them here in the reply. The problem I have is between trans and centerlink is about 3 and between center link and crossmember Ive got roughly 6-7 to be able to fit a middle sump pan. I did find Cxracing pans and I believe one of theirs will work.

I ended up going with a 7 quart steel pan and cutting it all up and building it to fit, I got it cut and tacked together and a buddy had it welded up good for me. Project is still on going, but the motor is in the car with pan on it. Very tight clearance between center link and pan and front crossmember but it fits!

Lots of work

Did you ever find an oil pan for your swap? I'm doing a 66 Wildcat and I'm having the same issue. I used an fbody but it's not the right one in my opinion, steering linkage won't clear... if you have any answers i sure could use some.... thanks 66 Wildcat

I posted pictures above your post. I went with a 7 quart steel pan and cut and fit and cut and fit and.... haha it was lots of head scratchin and trial and error but it is on there and clears.

Top End Fabrication out of Chattanooga is doing the fab work on the turbo setup.

Hooker turbo manifold

Shes alive, had oil pressure issues with last engine. So this is a 1999 LQ4 6.0 with 762 aluminum heads, BTR stage 2 turbo cam, Holley terminator x, 80lb injectors, VS racing billet 80mm T6, JGS 60mm bov and gate, hooker turbo manifold setup, 4 electric cutout, th400, b&m stealth pro ratchet shifter, co2 for boost control. Cool to finally cruise this thing and do some street tuning.

Had to cut the stock Buick mounts off the frame, used Dirty Dingo mount plates and then just a HD bushing with a 9/16 bolt. The bushing got welded to the frame. Been driving it now for 5+ years no issues.
