Default Built early 4l80e. Convert to new internal harness or repin?

Hey all, I have an early 4l80 that I've had sitting around for quite a while that was never intended to go into my 2000 trans am but I am now considering swapping it in as my TH400 is just not street friendly and the goals with the car have changed over the years. The 4l80 has a basic shift kit and some stuff from Jakes Performance. It should be good for some decent power and give me an overdrive. Being that is an early year what all should I upgrade to use it in my car with the factory PCM? Also, it has a bolt on yoke which I think I can just weld up the bolt hole and use it as a slip. Let me know your thoughts.

What year 4L80e? Anything 1994+ will work with your LS computer. Just follow LT1swap.com wiring conversion if you are converting from a 4L60e, or not sure how you ran your TH400?

The 4L80e 94-95 will have the short shift shaft. You can replace the longer shift shaft for the NSS. They should have the threaded bosses for the NSS, at least 95 units I overhauled did.

Just get yourself a flexplate from a 6.0/4L80e like from a 2500 SUV or 2500/2500HD truck, if you don't have that already.

I'm not familiar with the F-body yokes, but someone will chime in on that.

Mine appears to be pre 94’ if I’m not mistaken.

The side on the first photo should have an aluminum tag with the year near the back.

I've never messed with the 91-93, but just know they have a different cleaning cycles (whatever that means?)and IDK what else. I believe you can upgrade them to the 94+, but will require some parts swapping. I recently came across a guy selling a 91 empty case, but passed on it once I saw it was a 91. Originally, the very early years had a bolt-on case connector, but yours doesn't have that. Looks like the regular case plug. Hopefully yours is a 94+...

If not, some of the transmission gu-rus here can tell you what all needs to be swapped.

That is an Early style Case with Threaded Bosses for the Selector Shaft Position Switch Assembly...

So it has to be either 1995 or 1996, but very late 1994 is possible!

The Transmission should be ready to use with that style case Electrical Connector/ Internal wiring harness.
That is the ideal core in my book!

Welp you are right on the money. My memory failed me on this one. It seems to be a 96’. Any other thoughts needs are welcomed.
