Default Aftermarket “Truck Cam” in F-Body (LS1)

I’m looking into a new top end for my ‘00 Z28 and I was wondering if a “truck cam” be a decent choice for a street cruiser? When shopping the bazillion cam choices for the LS1 I cam across TSP’s Stage 3 High Lift Truck cam. They list its advertised operating range from 1,400-6,500 RPM which sounds ideal for the way I’m going to use the vehicle. The specs are 216/220 .600/.600 112 LSA.

This is going to be a low horsepower build and parking lot manners take precedence over max hp. I have a 4l60e, 3,200 stall, and a 3.23 rear end. Improved low to mid-range power is what I’m looking for. You know, merging onto the hwy faster type of situation. Would a “truck cam” be decent in that area? I’m still shopping heads, but they’ll either be a petted 243 or an “as cast” 220cc. Possibly the TFS, but maybe a PRC. I plan on using an LS6 intake. However, I don’t really want long tube headers. I realize how big of a restriction that they are but I’d rather not have them. That being said, how worthwhile would a custom cam be in that situation? Are we talking a 5-10 hp gain with a custom cam that was ground to help exhaust flow vs the typical off the shelf cam? More than that? Less than that? This is a “budget build” and the horsepower expectations are fairly low. If it made 400 at the motor I’d be pleased.

Can someone move this to internal?

Also finding an LS6 intake that doesn’t have something broken on it looks like it might be harder than I thought. That’s to be expected I guess since it’s a 25 year old piece of plastic.

Cam specs look ok but maybe consider the Summit ghost cam. Slightly more duration and civilized manners.
