ASR Button I have ASR button on 2000 SS and button itself used to illuminated amber automatically as system was default on upon startup. The ASR rocker button itself when pressed shows ASR off on the dashboard, and clears when press again. But the amber light no longer works on the switch itself - I believe it used to / supposed to ? I thought if the wiring harness behind the switch was enabling/disabling the system the amber light on the harness should still work as well ?.

The amber LED in the switch is on a separate circuit from the actual control. It is powered by the GAUGES fuse, but I assume that's okay since you don't mention any other symptoms such as the gauges not working. If you have a voltmeter or multitester (or even a simple test light), you can check for power on the pink wire at the switch. If there is no power there then you have a break in the wire between the fuse and the switch.
The LED is controlled by the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) which provides ground to the circuit. You can check that there is ground available on the purple/white wire at the switch when ASR is on and no ground when turned off. If not, then you have either a break in the purple/white wire between the switch and the EBCM or the EBCM is faulty.
The other possibility is that the LED in the switch is dead. It is not considered a serviceable part (although you might be able to replace it if you're good with soldering), so you would have to replace the switch.
