9's first time out with new setup

2002 Z28
3520 lb raceweight

Completely stock untouched heads
MS3 cam
Stock intake
Stock throttle body
Headers
Custom 4" exhaust
Nitrous outlet 200 shot
Yank 3600 stall (only flashes to 3400 on motor)
MWC 9" with rear suspension and 4:11 gear
Completely stock front suspension
28x10.5 slick
Tuned by me

Car went an 11.42@118 w/ 1.59 60' on motor this same day.

On the best nitrous pass and the only one I ran complete 1/4 mile I cut the kit off at 6800 and went through the traps on the limiter at 7200. This was leaving on a 175 shot and progressing the other 25 in at .3 of second.

I went to another track after this and went a 6.33@111 1/8th and bumped my window switch to 7200 and limiter to 7400, then ran it out the back door. They didn't have the 1/4 mile clocks on for some reason but my logs showed that I went through the traps at 7300 rpm which is around 138-139 mph.

I guess running 9's just isn't impressive anymore.

I8UR4RD Nov 27, 2012 03:58 PM

pretty quick.

RsSean Nov 27, 2012 05:06 PM

man that is moving, I had the same trap speed but only a 10.60 on a NO 100shot plate.

TeEnAgE pHeNoM Nov 27, 2012 08:12 PM

Thanks guys. As stated that was running out the back door on motor. It should go 138-139 spraying the full run. I've ran in on a drag radial with traction issues and it usually picks up 28 mph on the split.

For what you have in your car and being that it is still pretty heavy, those are bad a$$ times and MPH.

Sommer86 Nov 28, 2012 01:32 PM

You're my hero. I wonder what my built 402 will do with that same 200 shot. Hhhmmm..... :)

Thanks man. The only weight reduction is the greg weld racestars. So it's basically still a full weight car. This was also on a very conservative tune. Still on the out of the box nitrous outlet fuel jet.

Lol. To be honest man, I love small motors. When I build a motor it's going to be a max effort 347. Hoping to go in the 8's with the rossler 4l60e I have and at 3400lb raceweight. I'm going to end up shooting 400 to this stock bottom end hopefully. Your setup should definitely fly!

I have seen the car at Lena MS at one of the street shootouts car runs good...

Love this! What gear setup are you running?

4:11 and a yank ss3600 stall. It's really tight on motor behind this setup. The gear is way to steep and poses traction issues. Shifts to 2nd at 7,000 before it passes the tree. Lol

you thinking about going 3:73?

Yes. Well I'm going 3:75. See how that works and then might see about getting the converter restalled. It's very efficient but hits the tires really hard. I want to get in the 1.3x 60' with stock front suspension on the slicks and 1.4x on drag radials. There is still a lot left in the tune on this car. Only running 18 degrees timing and have only stepped down to a 43 fuel jet. Timing mark is still slightly above the bend.

Nice times, congrats!

Good luck with changes. Interested to see the final product, and times it produces!

Foot braking around 2000. I'm going to try the transbrake next time out. Set the 2 step around 2800. Converter is very efficient but with the 4:11 gears it just hits the tires too hard.
