Default N/A LS1 F-Body in the 9's

Well it was a fun year reached some new milestones with one of the biggest ones getting into the 9's on motor.

Best time this year being a 9.83 135.xx

It is the original ls1 rebuilt flat tops, tea 243's, SRD cam, MSD intake and all supporting mods. I was 2 thou away from passing chris1313 on the N/A ls1 list! I think it might be the fastest time for a Gm headed ls1 in a fbody N/A. I'd love to run N/A for another year with some dome pistons, more cam and a trans brake but boost is calling!

Congrats man that is moving for a n/a ls1.

Imagine you moved that top end combination over to a big bore stroker short motor with even more camshaft, you could be very close to or into the 8's n/a.

Thanks fellas! Yea I would love to stay N/A but I've been moving toward turbocharging the last few years so now it's time to make the leap. I know with some more compression it would go a good amount faster. Rw in the low 29's. I'll post some slips later

That's impressive! How in the world did you get your RW to 29xx?

I have somewhat of an addiction to weight reduction. Not just hacking up my car but more replacing heavy parts with lighter weight ones. Also just paying attention to all the small details.

WOW man...that is quite impressive... If you wouldn't mind (no rush whenever you have the time) could you post up or pm me what your weight reduction courses of action were. If you have a build thread a link to that would be fine too. I am focusing heavily on weight reduction this off season and quite honestly am not too sure what else I can remove or change without hacking into this thing!!! Thank you.

I’ll help anyone however I can. 1st thing I’d do is search drag racing section. Bunch of info in there. Find the thread by member “studderin” called “putting this bitch on a diet”. That’s a classic. Once you really get into weight reduction you will know what to do and there will always be something else you want to do. I’ve been fortunate to be able to do some Wallet mods that are not really cost effective but they help you get to your end goal.

It all helps but really I only have seen a tenth per 150lbs reduced. I really think excellent suspension a killer engine/converter/gear combo is where it’s at.
My car ran 10.90’s with hardly any weight reduction, heavy wheels, a “sleeper” cam, home ported ls1 heads dyno 390 whp. I ran 10.3x all day with that same engine combo with some weight reduction, light drag wheels, ms109 tune and I made a real deal ram air setup, best time on that was a 10.17 @ 132 with a 1.32 60ft. That was 410rwhp.

I've lost more than 450# with NO wallet mods. See my build thread.
As mentioned above "studderin" thread helped a lot! But it is "hacked" up pretty good (strip only car).

This is another good one.

Let me reiterate again that weight reduction helps but is not everything. It’s not even the most important part. I’ve fugged up lighter cars and I’ve beat down cars with almost 1000hp. I have a turbo now and figuring it all out. Let’s hope I’ve specd the right combo. If not I might have to go back N/A

Nice runs Sillysspeed. Chris1313 could of run a 9.7x about an hour earlier then when he went 9.82 but he did not have the front end limmiters pulled all the way down and did what is in the picture. The temps were in the high 40's on the wheelstand and one hour later were close to 60.
