How much power for 8.99's?

On a nearly 4000lb car?

Will a GT76 with a built motor and of course all the supporting mods get me there?

I doubt you could accomplish those times with a 76mm turbo and 4k lb raceweight.

My best guess is that you would need around 1,000rwhp, which you could accomplish with a single 88 or twin 61's. (and obviously there are a million other variables).

the 4000# raceweight is going to make it a pita...

I am 3305 with me in mine 3rd gen and I just broke into the 8's. I figure I am making 850 RWHP and 1000 FWHP.

1000 + for sure

Hey,
I have a 3300 lb. 88 Mustang Hatch back with a 331 C.I. and a 76 mm Turbo with a Turbo 400 and on just 15PSI making only 575 RWHP have ran a 1/8th mile best of 6:30 which computes to 9.7 in quarter. With a larger engine and 24 PSI or more I would be surprised if you couldn't hit the high 9's LOL

I'm thinking about 1300 flywheel horsepower, or roughly 1000-1100 rwhp..
Definately wont be done with a 76mm turbo.. You'll need a 88mm at the least, and I would even run a 91mm just to keep your turbo from surging..

Well I have been some 6.2 and 6.3 but no 9.7

how is your chassis set up? that can change things big time!

trouse40 Sep 30, 2006 02:39 PM

a 76mm turbo wont support 1000hp?

TchargedLS1TA Sep 30, 2006 04:34 PM

Not without surging or running the turbo at its limits....

I don't normally run the dyno much then go to the track, but I did getting ready for drag week.
Car is 72 Nova weighs 3815 with me in it.
Ran the car on our Mustang chassis dyno to verify it was ready to race, it made 711 at the tire with the drag week pulleys on it. SC 402 LS2 based engine. Drove off dyno and into trailer, off to Cordova. Off trailer into tech then staging lanes. First ET was 9.27@148mph leaving off brake at 4500rpm. Second run moved two-step up to 5500rpm, spun tires. Third run lowered two step down to 5000rpm, just lightly rattled the tires on launch, ET 9.29@148mph.
