Help me build up my friends 350 TPI engine.
So far we have decided to do a 383 stroker and swap out the stock TPI for a Holley stealth ram.
What heads/cam would you guys suggest? Its a street car with a 700r4 trans. It will be getting a Yank converter and gears once I find a cam for it.
Its a factory roller engine out of a 87' Iroc.

Put a set of AFR 195's on it if it is going to be more of a street vehicle or a set of 210's if it is more of a street/strip and choose the grind of cam you would want. My buddy used the TPIS zzx cam in his 383 and was running 10.90's on motor with the Holley Stealth Ram. You could look into the xfi grinds from Comp.
The chip tuning is going to be a pain in the ***. I would look into the EFI ls1 setup from Efi connection so it can be flashed like an ls1. Another note is that most injectors won't go down far enough into the intake for the fuel rail to bolt up. The Holley injectors go right in but the cost of them is almost double what some other good injector companies want for their injectors.
Here's my cousin's HSR, 187cc AFR headed, zz409 cam, 350 on the dyno at Thunder racing back in the day.

Those IK200 are some good heads but the max lift is .575 lift and the cam you are choosing goes to .576 lift with 1.6 rockers, so if you use 1.6 rockers you are going to run into coil bind, but with 1.5's you will be ok. I would look into the track1's since they are a little better head and the springs on it are good to .600. The cam is a good cam. It is the one me and my cousin are looking at for his car in the future.

I'm glad to see that someone else is still modding tpi. Most of the kids at the track down here don't even recognize a small block when they see it or know what a third gen Camaro is when they see it. There is also a lot of info on moddin these cars on thirdgen.org. Thats my lil bro's car in the pics above. Small block Chevy!!

By the way op it put down 363 to the ground. and that was good enough for a 11.63 pass at the track full weight.

I used the brodix IK200 heads on my 383 and was very happy with there performance, I did do a little pocket proting on them. On the enginge dyno I pulled 506 hp and 490 tq. Lift on the cam is .576

I have a new set of Profiler 195 heads forsale and a Bullet Hydraulic roller cam. Similar to the comp cc503. It is 225 230 @.050 .525 lift with 1.5 rockers. The profilers have some of the best flow numbers out there untouched. Search for Profiler heads. Go here www.1320techtalk.com

I built the same engine back in 2001 do afr heads 195 good cam all tpis mods and it will put done some great numbers. I still have the Big mouth mainfold that was hone if you looking for one i might still have the twin runners to go with it. If not look for them use you stock pleum just port it well. If you built it right you should be able to get 500/500 hp/tq and still get about 24 mpg

I don't think that .001 is going to put it into coil bind.

I am getting ready to sell my complete miniram setup with all the sensors. I would even sell the computer with it. This was Traxion's old setup (check on thirdgen.org). Car went 11.60 at 117MPH with the factory 1990 shortblock, ported AFR's and a 236/242@.050 roller cam. Let me know if you are interested and I will PM you before I post it. I think a 383 with this same top end would be much more streetable (more torque) and a bit faster in the 1/4 mile.

Try to keep it EFI. When i switched to carb i made more power but they car just wasnt a much fun on the street and slowly moved to a full time race car. If your building it a a racing DD try to stay EFI. IF racer and semi street go to carb
