Talking ol' school 383 or stock lq9?

i have a 83 c10 that currently has a 305 in it. have the money t do a swap now and just wanted to get some opinions. if i go 383 with some nice heads and maybe a 100 shot of juice, lq9 carbed with a 100 shot as well. its gonna be my daily. the 383 is pretty quick but the lq9 always leaves room for improvement. gonna be running a built t56 with some extras.not looking for a full blown race engines just something to keep the ford guys busy with stoplight to stoplight. all opinions welcomed and appreciated, please nothing negative

Well, as a former 383 builder, my LQ4 swap was cheaper and if i break it, the long block was only 700$, a 383 cannot do that. Not to mention, my "budget" 383 trapped 90 MPH in the 1/8th with nasty ported heads while my LQ4 with stock 317s traps 92. That is 2 more MPH with stock stuff and a cam swap with a carb.

So, i gave up on the old school engines but still rock a carb.

BTW, we have a new carbed section if you are interested in seeing results of others rides, one guys stock 6.o with a cam has gone 9.9 all motor in the 1/4.
