8.1L to Viper t56 I am looking for help full info on putting a t56 from a 2001 viper behind a 2001 8.1L from a GMC 2500 pickup for a 1967 firebird. I'm not building a drag car just a nice tire burner that won't get smoked by every second tuner car on the road.

Machine the input to match LS1 length.
Swap the front plate from Dodge to GM (slave cyl. bolt pattern only) & re-set endplay.
Then read all the other Viper to SBC threads for the rest; everything else applies except the balance of the flywheel for the 8.1.

just get an ls1 t56 input shaft and front plate. and appropriate bellhousing from quicktime. the 8.1 flywheel is like a 2 piece sbc 396 427 flywheel bolt pattern but has metric bolts to retain it. the 8,1 flywheel is neutral balance.
Just did this swap in my truck I have a stock 8.1 and a ls1 t56 behind it

What are you guys doing for the VSS Sensor..I know they have different signle type and they are not the same type / size / configuration ?
I have been running a Viper T56 for 6 years.. but never connected my speedo up or to the PCM. (never needed it.. LOL).
