Default Will this affect my CARBS PERFORMANCE?

I just bought a 350 and it came with a holley 600 cfm carb w/ an electric choke and i'm going to put it on my '84 el camino (305 w/ 350 goodwrench heads) but I seen that it has this ruff surface on what i believe is the metering block and I wasn't sure if that would affect the carb in any way? I'm going to get a rebuild kit for it if everything checks ok. Thankx

I used to use a high quality stainless steel wire brush about the size of a tooth brush.
Those work good for removing old gasket material like you have there.
Make sure none of it clogs the air bleeds, etc.

as long as the bowl seals to the carb body and doesn't leak then it shouldn't affect anything.
A dremel with a steel wire wheel works well.
for the rebuilt kit, get the kit that has the blue gaskets as opposed to the old cork gaskets.
