Default Hoping to ID powerplant in '70 Impala

Hi all! Found a '70 Impala under a tarp at my grandpa's house. I know NOTHING about it or period Chevys, so I was hoping some of you experts my be able to help. He's a bit of a drive away, so thought I'd check before heading out to look at engine numbers, etc.

Do you see any telltale signs of what we're looking at here? Standard 350 Turbofire? Anything else of interest? Thank you!

Gen 1 SBC, from the year of the car it's probably a 400.

According to Wikipedia, the standard engine was a 250hp 350 Turbo-Fire. Optional engines were a 300hp 350, a 265hp 400 Turbo-Fire, and a 340/390hp 454 Turbo Jet. Is there any way to figure out which this is without checking numbers?

Engine numbers would be key, vin# may help in somewhat identifying it. Looks to be a standard sbc 350 with factory air no special bells n whistles looking at valve covers and the faded sticker on the air cleaner housing.

Looks like the originally installed engine. It also look like the small 6" harmonic balancer which eliminates the 400 with the 8" external balanced. If it has a two barrel carb, it's the 250hp 350. Four barrel 300hp 350. Or pop a valve cover off. The 400 will have 3951598 heads.

No way of telling without some numbers..as mentioned already it does in fact appear to be the original engine so if there is an engine displacement decal on the radiator support it is most likely going to be correct.

I've got a 70 impala I'm pulling a 350 out of for my 91 notchback build and I'd like to know how to tell the difference between the 300 and 250hp 350s and whether or not they'd be 4 bolt mains
