Default 412 aluminum block 14to1 e85?

I thinking of buying a aluminum sbc 412 but it has 14 to 1 with 18 degree aluminum head's. It will be fuel injected. Can i run e85 with this motor on the street and be reliable? Thanks

If it's 14:1 with 18 degree heads, that alone screams max effort drag motor. What cam is in that?

Anything is possible. But you will be a far cry from reliable. I hope you have a deep pocket. This is setup to spin well above 7500 - the benefits of solid roller just begin here. The spring pressures to support this max effort lift cam are pushing over the nose pressures that are not ideal for street idle to street mid RPM range. You will need 1000RPM minimum at all times to keep from dropping a lifter.

You will be buying lifters and springs as if they are expendable resources. You will not be able to store it as ethanol is corrosive - not as bad as methanol but still requires careful maintenance. You will be doing crank and rod bearing replacement every 2 years as normal maintenance regardless of whether it needs it or not. Cam bearings rarely need replacement but are checked for wear. These motors are normally blueprinted and logged.

This is not a street motor. It is a drag motor that you drive onto a trailer or to a local track.

As long as you accept the maintenance routine it will take to keep it performing and running and know the consequences of driving it on the street without constant maintenance then you're good. I know of some BBC setups that are lucky to get 4000 miles on a set of springs and lifters.
