Default BBC storage question

hello all! just picked up a 454 and turbo 400 trans on Monday and need to store it for awhile. the storage area in question is beneath a lean to on a shed. it wont be facing any of the elements directly but it does get humid sometimes and its not rusty at all and id like it to stay that way. so the question is what would be a good way to store this bad boy so when the time comes shes ready and raring to go?? thank you very much.

I would spray a good amount of WD-40 down the intake and in each spark plug hole and rotate the engine to make sure all is protected. Then cover the carb flange and exhaust ports with something durable enough to keep out moisture and rodents. Also, plug any breather holes and vacuum ports and bag it up if possible.

Get any and all water out of the block also! Sometimes "a few months" turns into "a few years". You don't want the water passeges to rust and pit.

I'd sell it, and when you're ready to do something go get an engine/tranny. A BBC/TH400 is common enough that finding one isn't a problem.

WD40 will go away in time. Use LPS which is a Cosmoline or use transfluid.

Agree. Also, Marvel Mystery Oil works well.
