383 Truck Towing motor on boost, Compression Ratio.
This is the 383 I am building for my truck, on about 10 pounds max boost. Since I torched a piston and am building a new motor I want to make sure I get this right. Last motor was about 8.7:1 with World Product S/R Torquer heads, 170cc runner, 76 cc chambers. These heads have the old school chambers, non Vortec style. I could do some work to the WP heads, porting, valve springs for roller cam, valve job, zero deck the block and have around 8.5:1 compression. This will more than likely cause me to change my cam too.
I m going for max low end torque, so I was looking at using the GM HT 383 cam. 196/206 109 LSA going to use 1.6 rockers. The HT 383 comes with 9.1:1 compression.

I was going to run a set of Promaxx Vortec heads, 185cc intake, 64cc chamber. If I don't zero deck the block I will have around 9.2:1 compression. with a Fel Pro 1003 gasket. Zero deck the block would be 9.5:1.

The third option would be to buy a set of the Promaxx Fredom series 72cc Aluminum heads. They used to be Patriot Performance. That would be about 8.9:1 compression.

Here is what it ran like before I burnt a piston, Lunati Voodo flat tappet cam. Before the turbo the truck felt like it hit a wall around 4500 RPM even with the single plane intake. I blame the 170 cc intake runners on the WP heads.
