This was the car when I first got it. It was a very nice and well optioned car, and the man I bought it from took care of it since 1997.

This was during the process of taking the old setup out, and starting the prep to change over to a bbc. This old setup, with full interior and ac went a 6.8x @101mph. Super fun to drive, but could not keep up with the stick shift class that I run in.

You're making a lot of progress and fast. I have always loved the way big blocks sounded, how much compression will this make?

This will be a 10.5:1 compression engine. Just a simple pump gas engine. Simple makes things repeatable, or consistent; consistencty is what wins races. That is just how I see it, you know the least number of variables there are, the less there is to go wrong.

Progress will be plentiful in the next two weeks, as the clutch, headers, and engine will all be done next week. I am super excited about making the next race at the end of July.

Where are you racing the stick shift class at? I am in Arlington/Mansfield area and they recently shut down the track in Kennedale so I am looking for some places to take my car besides Ennis.

Northstar Dragway in Sanger, just north of Denton. We also run at XRP in Ferris, just between 20 and 287 south of Dallas on 45. The next race is at Northstar, and it is either the Doomsday prep race, or the Truestreet event. We ran down at Kennedale for years. My car is in Arlington right now, not too far from Kennedale.

We got a few things done tonight. We got a couple things finalized, and a few things started as well. Going to make a hard run at getting a lot of things finalized tomorrow. We got the battery mounted, and the on off switch, but need to finalize that. We need to finish the line lock and brake lines into the distribution block. We need to mount the radiator, as we just finished making a bracket and mounted the overflow tank. Then it is on to finishing the rewire, changing the rear springs, and on to carpet and interior plastics installation. Overall, this was a productive day.

Our fox group had an event at northstar back in may, fox bodies only. My goal is to have my car finished for their next event next year. Our paths may cross one day as I am wanting to go out to northstar a few times this year

We got a few more things ironed out today. We mounted the radiator and fan, and we mounted the line lock. More to come next week!

Above post is a link to instagram, the final assembly of the ATK 632ci engine can ve seen there. This is going to be what powers my 1996 stick shift Camaro.

Well, the long block is together, so the time is coming near to get some dyno numbers on this thing. Things are coming together nicely, we should be ready for the next event at the end of the month.

Do you work at ATK? I took a chance on a 638 block 357 shortblock (SP04) last year and it turned out well. Better quality than I expected, deck work was about as good as any shop I've dealt directly with. Wasn't thrilled with the aftermarket main caps but they're low risk for the application it went into. I get the impression that though a lot of the work is done in Mexico, some is also done in the US.

I do not work there, I am in the medical field, but my friend does. He works in the HP department, and I am pretty sure they do the work here, not in Mexico. I have been to their facility, and I met some of their builders who were super nice. The engine build room is as nice as I have seen, and as clean as expected for assembling new engines. This is a new build for their catalogue, since they haven't offered a 632ci as of yet.
