Default Alternator location

Where are you guys mounting the alternator when you install a SBC? I want to try and run the stock alternator from an lt1 since I already have it. What brackets are you guys using? Or are you guys running something different?

I'm using the lower alternator bracket for my sbcthat mounts on the driver side. But the reason i'm using that mount is because I have an electric water pump. It's a simple little bracket that should look awesome when i go to put it on. There are others that they do have but what I've seen in the past is that it depends on the engine bay you have the motor in. A couple of motors that i've dropped in, one alternator mount would not work if I was to switch it to the other car because of the fender, hose, or something like that. Hope that helps.

Well, I would imagine you would need the lower bracket such as the one I have because if you used the regular one, the belt would hit the pump. Hence the reason I got the lower one to avoid hitting the water pump. Maybe you have it set up a bit different but I would suggest the low mount.

And at that price he can keep it. $174 for a part that would cost $10 to have plasma cut at the local fab shop? I'm in the wrong business...

Anyone who buys that has too much money and not enough common sense.

Thanks guys! I was looking for one similar to the thunder one but like you guys said 174 is too much.
