Default Cast or Forged Internals? Please help

Im trying to figure out what internals i should go with for my application. 350 block with a 383 stroker kit 450hp N/a and maybe spray a 100 shot for good times. I know that with anything more than 150 you should go forged for extra protection. However if im going to spray a 125 shot MAX and this car is a weekend warrior not a drag/strip car.

Forged Setup-
SCAT superlite Forged Crank 3.750 stroke
Manley Tour Lite Rods (forged) 8500rpm
SRP/ Pro Tru, probe Pistons

$2700 for all with rings, and balanced

Cast Setup-
SCAT 9000 Steel Crank 3.750 stroke
Lunati Forged "I" beam Rods
JE Wiseco Forged Pistons

$1550 For all with rings, and balanced?

Will i be able to make the power i am looking at while still being safe with the forged I beams?

I run my 385 to 8000+ and 589HP on an eagle cast crank. Forged SRP pistons and Froged Crower rods.

So basically the same setup as i stated up there^? however i do know these rods and pistons are very very nice stuff. I think i'll go that route because it will help save for my TKO600 5-speed tranny.

450+ from a n/a 383 is certainly plausible. Latest issue of car craft has a good recipie for just such an engine.

Now before you pick one of those rotating assemblies, I suggest you shop around a little more. I've seen setups like that for less at sdpc2000.com. 383s are so common, you could even try ebay.

Ya i hear ya, im no where near ordering. I have to buy the car first!!! But im just getting a good background knowledge of where i want to take this car. I'm hopeing to Build my stoker, and Put in a TKO600 5-speed. Bolt-in. I think that with a 4.10 gear will work really well. And be updated and work great together. Next is suspension.

How are these thing's rearends? I know they made em Bullet proof but i want more info on them.

if you got the money, forged is always the way to go, that way if you change your mind and want to spray more ofter, or a bigger shot you'll have the goodies to do so. but i just have a scat nodular iron crank and it does its job nicely with 200 shot, im running manely h-beams with KB forged pistons as well. and as far as cranks go, i've spoke with many machine shops and engine shops and eagle cranks are good pieces, but they seem to be a PITA to balance compared to scat, lunati or callies, thats just what i've heard though

On the performance engines we build we have always used the forged components with zero problems.

On those Tour Lite rods those are a Billet rod and are very pricey and the forged Manley rods are half the money you could save yourself about a 100 dollars rith there.

Here is a link to a 383 we biuilt last year far a customer and we have found by using a good prepared set of Vortec heads we have seen the same results and the customes are happy as well.

say as long as we on on this subject. It is true that cast is actually stronger than forged, but cast will crack, where as forged with just take the blow?

its a mater of the piston staying round cast pistons are ( brittel - rigid ) and the combustion violence is to great for a stock style cast --- forged is a softer material and can take lots of banging around --- do not buy a light weight piston and use NX it will also fail ( not thick enough ) on top at valve pockets the cast picture is what will happen -- jz

yeah on my old s-10 drag car i had light weight forged pistons and i decided to spray on that, after about 1/2 season of a 200 shot i pulled the heads off during the winter to find that 3 of them had actually "collapsed", so deffinately dont spray with the light weights
