Default help with 305 vortec

G'day I have just joined the site, it appears there are some knowledgable people on it and I need some help with a 97 305 vortec truck engine I bought to put in a rodeo ute I have. I have found not many people in Australia know much about the later model chev motors. Can any one help with the following question.
I have bought a power plus cylone manafold and I have an electric water pump and it said in the manafold installation that on 96 and later vortec engine ( that does not have bypass in block )you must run a coolant bypass line from the manafold to the 5/8" hose nipple on passenger side of water pump. How do you tell if it has internal bypass and the electric water pump only has the one outlet to the rad . what does this bypass do and is there a way to still use electric pump. Also can any one help with specs on this motor or where can I find them. Thanks for the help

I needs coolant flow when the thermostat is closed. A bypass will bleed air through and provide more consistent temperature.
Three 1/8" holes drilled around the edge of the thermostat is usually suffecient bypass.
