Exclamation Would you Spray this Motor???

Ive got a 72' Nova that I am currently running at the Strip on the Weekends, she weighs about 3100lbs, runs on 29/15.5/15 Hoosier Slicks with a 4.11 gear, I am currently gather parts together to build a Big Block but presently there is a fresh 1970 Smallblock 350 .030 over cast pistons and rods, stock heads, and cam.

QUESTION: Ive got a Nitrous System laying around in the garage, I want to spray a 100shot to this motor just to have a bit of fun with it until the Big Block is done and ready......If I blew the motor I wouldn't worry too much it just came with the car when i purchased it. Would you spray it?

any guesses on the threshold? because if i spray 100 and get away with it I will move to 125 and then 150. I just figured the cast pistons wouldn't like it.

Alright bro, if i can spray a 305 like i did for a year with a 200 hit of dope you can go 150 forever as long as mentioned above, tuned correctly, my 305 went south due to loss of fuel pump.

Yeah a nice aftermarket fuel pump and you should be rather safe up to a 150 shot.

I would also go a step colder on the plugs for the nitrous honsetly.

I'd take that bet in a heartbeat even at 150hp! Looks like your Pops is about to pay for the Jug w/ the money from the bet. It seems you cant lose LOL!
I'd show my old man up by getting some C-16, pull a couple of degrees of timing and jet that bitch to 200hp for a pass or two If it doesnt rattle the pistons will be fine for a bit. Its once you heat up and cool down a cast slug that fast over and over they get very brittle and tend lose the skirts or ring lands.

I SAY DO IT! You'll be fine I have and have seen guys trying to pop a stock 350 w/ the bottle and its harder than you might think. Hell go on youtube and you can see some local guys from here trying to kill a lawn mower, a Taurus, and I think a Nissan truck you'll be amazed at how long they live WIDE OPEN on the juice......

Jet the carb rich for a safety net, pull timing down to 30* to be ultra safe and spray away. Make sure you don't run low or fuel pressure. You'll be $500 richer.
