Good luck trying to shove a 4" crank in a factory 350 block without hitting water. You'll have to find the perfect block for it to work, custom (read $$$) rods & pistons required. Not saying it's a bad idea or can't be done, just have your checkbook ready. Much easier sticking with a 3.75" or 3.8" crank.

I wouldn't be comfortable with the 402 idea. The 383 stroker has been done often and with great success. What is his budget? A 9.5:1 compression 355 with a set of Performer RPM heads from Edelbrock would be fairly inexpensive.

He could use later LT1 style connecting rods and some cheap Keith Black forged pistons form Summit. The Performer RPM cam or one of Comp's new Thumper grinds would work well or a Comp Magnum 270 makes a nice street cam.

Hope he figures out a good combo based on his budget. It's better to save the stroker money and spend it on a really good set of heads like AFR or something from TEA. You can make over 400 horsepower and torque with a well built 355. It takes good parts.

I wanna know how he's gonna bore out a 4" block to get a 4" bore? He's done before he even starts! Did he seriously think this through?
