Tuning sbc's??? Have any of you guys ever installed o2 bungs on your sbc's or bbc's in order to tune them? I'm wondering how it's done...(not the o2 part)...the whole tuning part of it. I'm wanting to try this but lack the experience on my end. Just wanting to get the best tune possible. |
Well, wide band is great. I used a narrow band but it still hemps me keep a base line, works well for 130$ |
I use a dynojet wideband to tune the carb.....helluva lot easier and more accurate than reading plugs. |
I would recommend buying a book on whatever style carb you have, and start there. Once you understand all the in's and out's to a that carb, then you can begin to tune it. The use of the dyno is great for WOT runs, but if you don't have access to one, especially a loaded dyno, the only route is to log it on the street and make changes in very small increaments. 1 change at a time teachs you what each part effects. Good luck!!! I try to forget about carbs evey night when I go to bed!! :) |
all that is for is for putting a wideband, etc. on it to sense the air/fuel ratio. is great so you you can tell how it runs while driving instead of sitting still with no load on the motor. that way you can fine tune the drivabilty of the carb. |
Wed do carb tuning all the time on the dyno using the wideband. Just need a good jet kit to get it right & the results are more precise than our old way of making a run, change the jets, look at the plugs process. |
Innovate LM-1 wideband is what I use. 1 Bosch O2 sensor in a header collector. It's nice seeing the idle/cruise/Transition to secondaries opening/Wide Open throttle information. You can also record and play back on a laptop or back at home on a desktop. |
Wow! You guys are REALLY helpful. Thanks for all the input on the topic. Where could I get a wideband and everyting I need? I'm really clueless when it comes to the subject honestly...but I have a 412 in my s-10 and i'm have a little trouble getting it tuned. I mean it runs good but i'm trying to get everything set perfect so I can get low 10's on motor. Thanks again fella's. |
