Default good sounding cam?

Ive got a built 427 in my big truck and id love to make it sound better. its a 427 bored .060 over, with 10.5 to 1 pistons. its got hedmann headers and super 44's. im looking for a good cam that wont give away any bottom end torque but will still have a better than stock sound.

a good lopey cam will take away some of the bottom end. you just need to decide where you want the powerband to start and not worry about the sound, and go from there.

The cams that truley sound sick are mid to top end power cams.

Remember that if you have a good stall thats at least a 3k or better you will be getting into the upper RPM quick!

My last motor had a nasty cam with a 3800 stall 4,000 something on the bottle and when I nailed it from any RPM I was in the upper RPM before I realized my foot had hit the ground.

Had plenty of power just cruising around.

Id sell you my old cam and related parts (needs a new push rod and a lobe welded and reground) but its a sollid flat tappet and does not make enough vac for power brakes to work very well and needs a larger stall (had a 3800).

Like said above its not about the sound, you match the cam to your intake/heads/stall/gears and whatever you get thats what its going to sound like. Its like exhaust, flowmasters sound great but should be called chokemasters.

Call Comp Cams tech line up and tell them what you have and they can get you a cam that matches your parts.

well if i do a new cam, id like a pretty bulletproof set of lifters/rockers too. the ones on there are loosening up and getting pretty noisy.

i had a 72 chevy 4x4 long bed with 38's and just a sbc 350 and i believe 3:73 gears but not 100%, i ran the edelbrock rpm cam, rpm intake, full roller rockers, duel timing chain and i was not disappointed, it spun the 38's easy i ended up blowing the tranny with my heavy foot lol. you have a big block you wont notice you lost any low end. and yes this cam sounds badass
