Default New SBC 427 project

I've been using this forum for information for a while but I figured I'd introduce myself and show you my new project.

I just picked up a new 427 4.125 bore, 4" stroke cnc'd track 1 heads with matching intake dart little M block, jesel belt drive and some other good stuff. You can check out pictures of it on the link below.

http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewvehicle.php?id=23794

Look forward to talking with some of you guys and probably asking for help.

Thanks

I'm hoping it is going to be a real stump puller.

The engine dynoed at 670hp but that was on 110 @37 deg timing. I'm going to take it back a bit and put 93 through it.

10.5:1 compression with all forged internals. Eagle crank and Mahle pistons.

I'm really hoping this baby cooks.

The zex plate is not on the car. Those pictures were taken before it was pulled out of a 67 chevy two.

82camaro: How did that motor respond with that timing and compression? Was it street driven at all?

Yes its street driven on pump gas. I have won the 10 sec class of the NMCA true street event twice with it. On motor it will run 10.00s to bottom teens have not had any proublems to date with the combo.

The pistons would have to be REVERSE Dome. If not then you are looking at 13:1 or more compression. even a flattop will yield 12:1 with 67cc chambers

My 383 was 11 to 1 with flat tops, so with a minor dome it can be 10.5 to 1 with that stroke.

I'll try and dig up the spec on the piston tonight and post it up.

By the time I finish this car I probably could have bought a new Vette.

Yea, i am thinking less cubes, i was tired yesterday. The more stroke and bore will make your pistons have less dome or more relief to have lower compression. Like i was meaning to say, my flat top 3983 is 11 to 1, a 355 with flat tops is 10.5-10.3. So a 427 should have dished pistons to be 11 to 1.
