Need some info on a 1999 dump truck 454!
Guys got a low mileage 454 out of a 1999 C8500 dump truck for sale locally. I havent had a chance to get the casting numbers yet, but I've heard some of these are tall deck motors.
It's an EFI motor with coil on plug and drive by wire throttle body backed by a 5-speed toploader.
Can I get some useful info on this thing? Is it worth the time and money to build? Once I get some casting numbers I'll put them up.

IF it is a tall deck the best use for it is a big stroker. The deck is raised .4in so thats that much more piston height. In turn allowing you to run like .5in stroker. Can think off the top of my head but thats a lot of cu in. That is about the only practical use for a tall deck. The easiest way to see if it is would be to run the casting number or you can look at the height between the top water pump bolt and the deck surface. Will be about .25 if its standard or almost .75 for tall.
