don't see why pulling the head to asses the damage is necessary though. either way its going to be much easier to fix whatever is bad in there with the motor OUT the car. so just pull the motor out. its going to have to come out eventually, just bite the bullet and do it.

definately wouldn't have driven that thing around knowing it had issues though. issues + boost = big problems in a hurry. hope whichever shop is working on it now gets you straight. FWIW, a well built 402, with some boost and a good tune should make SICK amounts of power.

+1 the cost of the rebuild is usually around 900-1100 + labor on pulling the engine and reinstalling it could find a forged bottom end

Hey guys bringing this one back. The motor is out and apart. I don't think it was the tune though. #5 was dead lean but the other 7 were rich. So I'm thinking the inj. or more likely something shorting in the harness but the inj. pulse is off of a ground i think. Anyone have any ideas other than that? Fuel psi was stable. And the plug showed that the cyl was lean but was still intact. Oh anyone have a good bare block for sale?

the one you sent me looks good Dallas all the good parts But for the same price you can get one new. That's a good price From Stangeater too then you would have the heads. But then the price of pistons, rings And a hone you're spending more than for a forged short block.
